37th Crafts Festival
Join the 37th edition of the Crafts Festival, the largest and most prestigious folk art festival in the Carpathian Basin. Taking place from August 18th to 20th, the festival will once again bring together the Craft Communities in the Civilian District of Buda Castle.
The festival will be located in various areas of the Buda Castle’s civilian district, including Toth Arpad Promenade, Tancsics Mihaly and Tarnok Streets, Szentharomsag Square and Park, and the Disz Square.
As part of the state celebration, admission to the festival is free. This year, the festival’s special guest will be Czech Republic. The main theme of the festival will focus on the traditional peasant kitchen and its still usable tools.
Over a thousand craft masters will be present at the festival, showcasing their skills through craft demonstrations and workshops. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness various traditional crafts being practiced and learn about the heritage and techniques that have been passed down through generations.
In addition to the craft demonstrations, there will be a fashion show titled “FolkTrend” showcasing modern interpretations of traditional attire. The festival will also feature hundreds of performances on multiple stages, offering a diverse range of music, dance, and theater.
For families, there will be children’s concerts, interactive workshops, storytelling sessions, and dance lessons in the traditional folk style. Visitors of all ages can immerse themselves in the world of crafts and enjoy a vibrant and lively atmosphere.
The festival will culminate on August 20th with an award ceremony by NESZ (National Association of Folk Artists), followed by a concert by the Kármentő Zenekar. The day will also feature a traditional bread blessing ceremony, led by Petrás Mária, and a special dance performance by the Örökség Nemzeti Gyermek és Ifjúsági Népművészeti Egyesület.

Aranyvonat kiállítás és Szent Jobb-körmenet

Taking place from August 18 to August 20, this exhibition and procession is organized by Szent István Nap to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the death of King Saint Stephen, the founder of the Hungarian state.
During the event, visitors will have the chance to get up close and personal with the impressive train consists, built in 1938 to mark the anniversary. Unfortunately, the railway carriage that used to carry the Szent Jobb (Holy Right Hand) on a national tour was destroyed during World War II. However, thanks to the initiative of the Budakeszi Cultural Foundation in 2015, the reconstruction of the Golden Train began, and it was successfully unveiled on August 20, 2020.
