Divat & Design Fesztivál
The Divat & Design Festival is a vibrant and inspiring community space that showcases the creative and value-creating programs of contemporary Hungarian fashion and product designers, as well as industry professionals. The festival offers a variety of activities such as craft workshops, sustainability programs, puppet shows, and exciting roundtable discussions. It takes place at the Millenáris Park, one of the city’s popular meeting points, as well as various locations throughout Budapest. The festival aims to bring together people of all ages and interests.
From August 19 to 20, the Millenáris Park will host a range of creative workshops. Participants can join workshops such as woodworking, mindful embroidery, ceramics, jewelry-making, urban planning, and more. These hands-on activities provide an opportunity for individuals to unleash their creativity and learn new skills.
In addition to workshops, there will also be roundtable discussions held at the Millenáris Park. On August 19, topics such as creative collaborations in the fashion and beauty industry and the increasing popularity of secondhand fashion will be explored. On August 20, discussions will revolve around the value of jewelry and the secrets of success for Hungarian creatives in the global market.
For children, there will be puppet shows at the Millenáris Park on August 19 and 20. The performances will present classic fairy tales in a modern and engaging way. Kids can enjoy shows such as “Vitéz László” by Fülöp Joci and “Pulcinella éneke” by Illaberek Bábszínház on August 19, and “Macskaland” by Juli és Timi Társulata and “Aranyszőrű Bárány” by Fülöp Joci on August 20.
For those interested in exploring the city, there will be a fashion and design tour with a focus on the relationship between Art Nouveau and fashion. A design theorist will guide participants through the city, uncovering the impact of style on the urban landscape. The tour will highlight interesting facts, such as when the famous female regulars of Centrál Kávéház ditched their corsets and where the first major department store opened. Participants need to register in advance to secure their spot.
Additionally, there will be creative workshops held in various locations around the city. Participants can join workshops such as Funny Wallet-making, leather bag-making with Anna Amelie, screen printing, and punch-needle embroidery.
The roundtable discussions and puppet shows are free to attend, but due to limited seating capacity, registration is required. The festival also features a pop-up shop at the Millenáris building, where visitors can purchase collections and accessories from contemporary Hungarian fashion and product designers.

37. Mesterségek Ünnepe
The 37th Mesterségek Ünnepe, which translates to Festival of Crafts, will be held from August 18th to 20th at Budai Vár, Polgárváros. This event is the largest and most prestigious folk art festival in the Carpathian Basin. It will take place in the civil town district of Budai Vár, specifically at Tóth Árpád promenade, Táncsics Mihály and Tárnok streets, Szentháromság Square and Park, and Dísz Square.
As part of the state celebration, this year’s event is free of charge. The festival’s special guest is Czech Republic, and the highlighted theme is “Befordultam a konyhára…” (I turned to the kitchen…), focusing on the usable tools of traditional peasant cuisine.
The festival will feature nearly a thousand master craftsmen showcasing their skills and craftsmanship. Visitors can expect craft demonstrations and workshops, a fashion show by FolkTrend, hundreds of performers and all day stage programs, children’s workshops and interactive activities, as well as traditional food and drink.
The Mesterségek Ünnepe program will be held on the main stage at Szentháromság Square. On August 18th, highlights include a concert by Farkas Zoltán Batyu and the Új Gereben band with guest artist Barna Anikó, as well as performances by the Tükrös Együttes and the Örökség Nemzeti Gyermek és Ifjúsági Népművészeti Egyesület. The evening will conclude with a concert by Lakatos Mónika and the Romengo band.
On August 19th, the program includes a special 100th performance of the children’s concert by Paár Julcsi, a joint production by the ViGaD Zenekar and the Tanac Táncegyüttes, and a concert by the Tatros Együttes with guest artist Petrás Mária, among others.
On the final day, August 20th, there will be an official award ceremony, followed by performances by the Kármentő Zenekar with special guests Sipos Mihály and Kardos Mária, Pál István “Szalonna” and Bandája, and the fittingly titled “folkTrend!” fashion show. The day will conclude with a performance by Fitos Dezső Társulat presenting “Embertánc - A táncoló ember” (Human Dance).

Aranyvonat kiállítás és Szent Jobb-körmenet
Are you fascinated by historical treasures? If so, don’t miss the opportunity to admire one of Hungary’s most spectacular national treasures, the Aranyvonat (Golden Train) exhibition!
The Aranyvonat is an impressive train carriage that was created in 1938 to commemorate the 900th anniversary of the death of King Saint Stephen, the founder of the Hungarian state. Unfortunately, during World War II, the railway carriage that transported the Holy Right Hand of Saint Stephen was destroyed.
In 2015, the Budakeszi Cultural Foundation initiated the reconstruction of the train carriage. After years of careful restoration, the resurrected Aranyvonat was unveiled on August 20, 2020.
Now, from August 18 to August 20, you have the chance to see this magnificent train up close. The event is organized by Szent István Nap (Saint Stephen’s Day) and participation is free. Bring your family and friends and join us in celebrating the importance of Saint Stephen’s Day.
