Competition Structure:
Get ready to form a team and compete as a pair in this exhilarating challenge. The IV. EMT Pair Crash welcomes both male and female competitors, with an age division split into under 45+ and over 45+.
What’s exciting about this year’s competition is that if you turn 30 in 2023, you are eligible to participate. This opens up the field to even more talented athletes eager to push themselves to the limit.
In terms of divisions, you can choose from the following categories:
- Male & Male under 45+
- Female & Female under 45+
- Mixed under 45+
- Male & Male over 45+ (combined age of at least 90 years)
- Female & Female over 45+ (combined age of at least 90 years)
- Mixed over 45+ (combined age of at least 90 years)
With no separate RX and Scaled categories, every participant will face the same challenging workouts on the first day. On the second day, the top six pairs in each category will continue competing in the RX division, while the remaining pairs will battle it out in the Scaled category.

Budapest Open 2023
The Budapest Open 2023 is an exciting event organized by the Budapest Debate Union. This year’s tournament will take place from October 21st to October 22nd, starting at 9:00 AM and ending at 6:00 PM UTC+02. As in previous years, the Budapest Open promises to combine the thrill of debating with the charm of Budapest, creating a unique and memorable experience for all participants.
To join the tournament, teams and adjudicators must register before the September 17th deadline. The registration links for team and adjudicator registration can be found here: Team registration and Adjudicator registration. Please note that the payment deadline is September 23rd, and all registration fees should be settled by then.
The registration fee for speakers is 45€, while adjudicators pay a fee of 35€. Additionally, there is an accommodation fee of 22.5€ per night. If you’re interested in participating as an independent adjudicator (IA), the application deadline is September 22nd. You can submit your IA application here: IA application.
The event schedule is packed with exciting activities. On October 20th, Friday, participants can check-in to Wombat’s City Hostel starting at 2:00 PM. At 4:15 PM, there will be a gathering at the hostel for a Budapest Tour, which will begin at 4:30 PM and last until 7:30 PM. The tour will explore various places of interest in Budapest, starting from Fővám tér. After the tour, participants will return to the hostel, where a social event will take place from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
On October 21st, Saturday, the day of debates, participants will enjoy breakfast at the hostel from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM. There will be transfers to the venue at 8:35 AM and 8:45 AM. Registration and briefing will take place from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by Round 1 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Rounds 2 and 3 will take place after lunch, and a provided lunch will be available from 2:14 PM to 3:15 PM. The day will conclude with Round 4, dinner, and a social event starting at 7:30 PM.
On October 22nd, Sunday, participants will have breakfast at the hostel from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM. Transfers to the venue will be available at 9:25 AM and 9:35 AM. Registration for Round 5 will take place from 9:45 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by the round itself until 12:00 PM. After lunch from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, the semi-finals, novice finals, and grand final will take place. The event will conclude with a closing ceremony from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
